Prior to being named President and CEO of Security Traders Association, John C. Giesea served as Senior Executive Vice President and Director of Equity Capital Markets for Advest, Inc. of Hartford, Connecticut. He spent 10 years with Advest.
From 1967 to 1990, he held positions with Kidder, Peabody and Co., Inc. in New York and San Francisco, including Senior Vice President and Head of NASDAQ Trading.
In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Giesea has held numerous positions with STA and it affiliates. Mr. Giesea served as STA’s chairman in 1995, president of the Security Traders Association of New York (STANY) in 1990 and president of the San Francisco Security Traders Association in 1976.
Giesea has served on a number of NASD and NASDAQ committees. He currently serves as a member of the NASDAQ Listing and Hearing Review Council. He is a past chairman of NASDAQ’s Listing Qualifications and Market Surveillance Committees. In addition, he also served on the Trading Committee, OTC Bulletin Board Committee and the SOES Blue Ribbon Committees. With the NASD, Mr. Giesea served on the District 10 (New York) Business Conduct Committee and as a director of Market Services Inc.
