What is STA …

  • STA is the leading trade organization for individual professionals in the securities industry that works to improve the ethics, business standards and working environment for its members. 
  • STA is comprised of 27 Affiliate organizations, nationally and internationally, with a total of 5,200 professional trade industry members who are engaged in the buying, selling and trading of securities.

What STA does …

  • STA provides its members a voice on matters affecting the markets and trading community … with Congress … with the SEC … with regulators … with the exchanges … and with other trade organizations.
  • STA hosts conferences that promote professional development, serve as a platform for influential leaders in the industry, as well as provide a forum for networking. 
  • STA members receive registration fee discounts for conferences, events and continuing education courses.
  • STA offers educational opportunities to keep industry professionals up to the minute on industry issues through its STA University (www.stauniversity.org).
  • STA created a political action committee, STAPAC, to take a more active role in supporting legislators who are standing up for the principals that better our marketplace.

What STA accomplished in 2006 …

  • STA University is launched through the STA Foundation
  • Comment Letters issued on Reg SHO, OTCBB, and the Three Quote Rule
  • In May, Congress cuts Section 31 fees, an initiative that STA spearheaded for a decade
  • STA supports NASD and NYSE in regulatory consolidation effort
  • Membership Recruitment survey conducted
  • Advertising Program becomes theme based
  • Website Redesign Begins
  • STA issues first CD of its DC conference

The Security Traders Association, Inc. (STA) is the parent of local Affiliate Associations located across the United States, as well in Canada, Great Britain and Paris.

Membership in STA comes through membership in one of our Affiliate organizations. We are an Association that is made up of individual professionals engaged in the trading of equity and debt instruments. We do not have firm memberships.

We are very proud of the work accomplished by our Affiliates. Each has its own agenda with business, philanthropic and educational focuses. Membership provides the benefits offered locally in addition to the important resources provided by STA.

If you can not find an Affiliate close to you, we do have a "Members-at-Large" category as well. This is where you can still be a member of our Association and receive timely information that affects the trading community.
